IPad and iPad mini 2021: features and prices
IPad and iPad mini 2021 are the new Apple tablets, and they are official: here are features, availability, price in Italy.
From the Steve Jobs Theater setting in Cupertino, the magnificent conference center inaugurated in 2017, Apple has formalized the new iPhone 13 range and a series of devices, including the iPad and iPad mini 2021, two of the most historically appreciated Apple products.
iPad and iPad mini 2021 are two very different tablets, not only in terms of size. iPad 2021 is nothing more than a simple update of the previous project, so the design remains unchanged as well as most of the technical characteristics: a choice that will undoubtedly displease some but that Apple has probably taken to keep the price at an acceptable level. iPad mini 2021, on the contrary, is all new: the design benefits from the reduction of the frames around the display for a finally modern visual impact, and the flat frame arrives, with sharp edges, inaugurated by Apple on the iPhone 12 and then transferred to the new iPads, as the Pro with M1 chip.
iPad 2021: features
The ninth-generation iPad is powered by the tested A13 Bionic chip (that of the iPhone 11, to be clear), which guarantees a performance increase of up to 20% compared to the previous one. Apple stated that it is “up to 3 times faster than the best Chromebooks out there and up to 6 times faster than the best-selling Android tablet”, without specifying which one.
Another novelty, certainly appreciated by those who often use the tablet for video calls, is Center Stage for the front camera, a function able to keep the subject in the center by compensating for any movement of the frame. The Retina display remains fixed on the 10.2 inches diagonally, but the True Tone arrives, a function that adapts the screen’s color temperature to the ambient light.
The news on iPad 2021 ends with these.
iPad mini 2021: features
The sixth-generation iPad mini boasts the same A15 Bionic chip as the new iPhone 13 that delivers ultra-high-profile performance. Apple claims a 40% increase in computing capacity and even 80% more graphics performance than iPad mini.
Thanks to the new chip, iPad mini 2021 can connect to 5G networks with download speeds that can reach 3.5 Gbps, while the “basic” version can still rely on the latest Wi-Fi 6.
The display, which now supports the Apple Pencil 2, improves significantly compared to the past, the larger diagonal (8.3 inches) by the much smaller bezels around it. For this, the Touch ID ends up in the power button at the top, while on the low profile, the USB-C input that replaces the Lightning begins.
The front camera for video calls is 12 MP – with Center Stage – and the renewed rear one, which can record videos in 4K. According to Apple, the speakers are stereo, the battery of over 5,000 mAh can guarantee up to a day of autonomy.
